Evasi0n 7 1.0.7: How To Jailbreak iOS 7.0.6 On iPhone 5S, iPad Air And Other Devices Before iOS 7.1 Release

The Evad3rs team released Evasi0n 7 1.0.7 to address Cydia problems with the previous jailbreak version Evad3rs

If you’re one of the many iOS 7 users that want to run your iPhone, iPad Air, iPod Touch or other iOS device from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in a jailbroken state, that window may be closing fast.

According to John Gruber of Daring Fireball, the release of iOS 7.1 appears to be imminent, since Apple will be releasing an iTunes Festival app for South By Southwest, or SXSW for those that want to live stream iTunes festival performances next week. While a release of an app isn’t necessarily an event in itself, rumors have been floating that the SXSW iTunes Festival app will require iOS 7.1 before it can be downloaded and opened.

For stock iOS 7.0 through 7.0.6 users, this news won’t affect them as much. However, the release of iOS 7.1 is potentially problematic for users of jailbroken iOS 7.0.x devices, since iOS 7.1 patches the many vulnerabilities used by the Evasi0n jailbreak. In addition, Apple uses a verification system called APTicket, which prevents iOS users of devices from downgrading or using older iOS versions, such as those compatible with existing jailbreaks such as Evasi0n 7.

This verification method prevents any downgrades, as Apple will stop signing APTickets for iOS 7.0.6 once iOS 7.1 is released, effectively blocking users from updating to anything but the latest version of iOS for their device.

With that in mind, those that are looking to jailbreak their iOS 7.0.x device have been advised by several developers in the jailbreak community to upgrade their iPhones, iPads and iPod touches to iOS 7.0.6, the latest version of iOS 7 that the Evasi0n 7 jailbreak currently works with.

For those that currently use an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch that has been updating using Apple’s over-the-air, or OTA updates, the Evad3rs team behind Evasi0n 7 advise users to restore their devices before running the Evasi0n 7 jailbreak and turning off passcode lock.

Once completed, follow these instructions below to jailbreak your iOS device using Evasi0n 7.

How to jailbreak your iOS 7.0.x device using Evasi0n 7 on Mac OS X:

1.     Download Evasi0n 7 1.0.7 from the official website.

2.     Unzip the downloaded package, open the DMG file and drag the Evasi0n 7 app to your applications folder.

3.     Open Evasi0n 7.

Note: if Mac OSX doesn’t let you open the Evasi0n app, right-click the app and click open, or change your Mac OSX security settings.

4.     Connect your iOS device to your computer via USB cable.

5.     Press the jailbreak button.

Note: The jailbreak process is the same for all iOS 7.0.x devices.

According to the Evasi0n 7 website, it is safe to restart the jailbreak process if it gets stuck. However, it is advised to let the jailbreak run through its processes, which are not instantaneous from IBTimes’ experience.

This is a work in progress. I have learned so much about this in the past few days that it is hard to weed out what didn't work from what did.

I will try to make this process painless for those who decide to go down this path in the future. The results are a beautiful, fully flashed iPhone 4.


NOTE: The instructions will cover the Verizon iPhone first because that is what I used. Sprint involves obtaining the SPC and probably saving the files in a different location (probably the Sprint folder).

In order to program the phone you will have to Jailbreak it. You need to be able to access system files and install other items to make a connection to DFS and load a PRL.

We've had success with untethered Jailbreak on 5.0.1 and tethered on 5.1.

CDMA Tool (by DFS)
- Download the demo. When you purchase the OTA flashing for the iPhone, it will upgrade you to the "Light" version.


iTunes
- Contains drivers that are required. You also need iTunes in general.


DiskAid
- Browsing iPhone Apps contents and transferring files to or from an iOS device has never been easier with DiskAid. It automatically discovers all Apps and allows to copy files, folders or even complete file trees!

File Requirements:

Custom IPCC for Cricket - This will be required for MMS. It should also contain a Cricket PRL which can be replaced. Becomes OPTIONAL if amoamare's Cricket Bundle is used (read in AMO section).

- In the Mac OS X and iPhone OS, property list files are files that store serialized objects. Property list files use the filename extension .plist. Mac OS X 10.2 introduced a new format where property list files are stored as binary files. Starting with Mac OS X 10.4, this is the default format for preference files.

These plist files are in the IPCC (Carrier Bundle) file. You might want to be able to peek inside those. To open an IPCC file, I changed the file extension to .zip and opened them up in Winrar. In Winrar you can edit the files inside the zip and save them back to the zip immediately. I feel like this causes the least modifications to the file structure of the IPCC or Carrier Bundle.

Guide on flashing your iPhone 4 (CDMA) to metroPCS

I'm starting a thread on how to flash the iPhone 4 (CDMA) to metroPCS because when I was looking for it on Google it took me so long.

This is only for the Verizon iPhone 4 (CDMA).


First off it doesn't matter whether or not the iPhone 4 (CDMA) you have has a good or bad ESN. metro doesn't care.

Keep in mind only talk and text works. All data will require WiFi but you can't beat unlimited talk and text for $40 (plus $5 unlimited international texting).

Now. You will need to download

Configuring the phone for use on metroPCS

1. Jailbreak using either redsn0w (4.2.9) or JailbreakMe (4.2.8 and lower)
2. Download afc2add on Cydia
3. Open iPhoneBrowser
4. Go to /System/Library/Carrier Bundles
5. Scroll all the way down to Zeppelin_US.bundle
6. Delete the 310VZW.prl file first then drag the metroPCS 1038 PRL file there

metroPCS Roaming Lists
1. Dial *22801 on your iPhone (on the top left it should say Roaming)
2. Follow voice directions to get the latest Roaming Lists
3. When it's Done it should say Service Update Complete

Your phone is now fully configured for use on metroPCS. Easy right?

To get your ESN you need to convert it from the MEID number the iPhone gives you.
The ESN should be an 18 digit number (there should be no letters). Google for a MEID to ESN converter.

Now the hard part.

Getting your iPhone's ESN added into the metroPCS inventory
I learned this the hard way but you can't just go to a metroPCS store and have them add it for you. This is applicable not only for iPhones but for all flashed phones. The only way they can add it is if you're phone is officially flashable with metroflash. Why? Because there software adds the ESN automatically when the phone is flashed. 

To have it added manually you have to find someone who is willing to do it. Most corporate stores will do it but they will charge you for it. 



To verify your ESN has been added
(link) and check if your ESN is verified as a metroPCS ESN.

Anyways after your ESN is added all you have to do is either
Dial *228 on your phone and talk to customer service (important!) and have them add them switch the phones for you, it should be done automatically.

or

Go to a metroPCS store and have them add it for you. 

After that, talk and text should be working on metroPCS.

Some things to note:
There won't be a carrier name showing on the top but you can just use FakeCarrier or something to do it. Honestly though, I prefer the clean look of having no carrier name though.

If you want to get rid of the O next to the carrier name or signal bars. Just disable Cellular Data. It's an indication saying it couldn't connect

(GUIDE) iPhone 4 and 4S flashed to Page Plus

Upon my research of trying to make a jump to prepaid on my iPhone, I was really left between a rock and a hard place. I had a Verizon CDMA iPhone 4 32GB. Now as many of you know, the CDMA iPhone 4 does not have a SIM card slot. So all GSM carriers were out of the question. The phone was given to me by a friend who had upgraded to the iPhone 4S and then the 5. It really was something I was thankful to have and now I needed to find a use for it.


The Verizon family plan would not allow a smartphone (purchased either outright or at subsidized) to be put on it at the price it was currently. We would need to switch to the new Share Everything. Not really an option as it would cost more for less literally even if we all stayed with basic phones.

Upon researching the CDMA prepaid carriers I came across Virgin (Sprint network), Boost (Sprint network), TalkForGood (Verizon network), and Page Plus (Verizon Network). Both Virgin and Boost would not work where I live even if I flashed it to the Sprint baseband due to coverage issues. So it was a choice of TalkForGood or PagePlus. 

(TalkForGood is a great option for those who use little to no data on their phones or use do alot of either calling OR texting. If that meets your needs check them out as they are a fantastic option and are pretty new.)

PagePlus, unlike TalkForGood, does not openly support iPhone activation. So we need to use some unofficial ways to get it activated.

Step 1: Create a Page Plus account at https://www.pagepluscellular.com/login/register/

This will give you access to the customer service online chat feature. This is necessary to get it going. Don't worry, you do not need a phone active in order to create an account.

Step 2: Submit a request to get a new number using the standard activation page with the iPhone's MEID where it asks for the ESN. (YOU MUST HAVE A CLEAN ESN FOR THIS TO WORK). It will of course fail and give a "DEVICE REJECTED" error code. Don't worry this is all normal. We just want to submit the request to get our foot in the door.

Step 3: Log into your account and fire up chat. Tell them you do not know why activation failed and would like to activate your phone. Do not say it is an iPhone unless they explicitly ask. Most of the time they will have no issue getting it going.

Step 4: Provide the appropriate MEID for the ESN number, and make sure you state your zip code you want your number to be in. If you are porting a number we will get there.

Step 5: After the representative gives the A-OK to begin activation, wait roughly 15 minutes for the system to update. Then dial *22890. Make SURE voice roaming is turned on for this step. Otherwise activation may fail and you will be left with a "No Service" indicator.

Step 6: Congratulations you are now activated. If you plan on keeping the new number, go ahead and make some test calls with the $2.00 credit that is on the house. If you are porting in continue on.

Step 7: Either call Page Plus or chat them and fill out the appropriate questions for porting in a number. Most numbers take as little as three hours. 

Step 8: Wait three hours after finishing the call and dial *22890 again and the "My Number" info should update to reflect your newly ported number. 

Step 9: You can now either add money or switch to a No-Contract plan.

Step 10: Enjoy your iPhone bill now cheaper.

NOTES: 
Before beginning make sure Voice Roaming is on.

Do not add a plan until after the number has ported if applicable.

Once the phone is in the system it should never be removed, so you do not run the risk of deactivation.

If your phone is currently active on VZW. Switch the VZW line to another phone to get the iPhone freed up

I wrote this guide as a means to help those who are looking to switch with an iPhone as I had to kind of go in the dark when it came to moving over. I hope this helps anyone interested and do not be afraid to ask any questions.

Well i cant edit my old post so i thought i would start a new one with a updated guide on flashing a sprint iphone 4 to page plus. Its pretty much the same process with updated steps for ios6.

Well i posted recently that i acquired a iphone flashed to page plus. Well i didnt know it was a sprint iphone and thought it was a verizon one so i restored it and was left with no data. So i went on a mission and after many hours finally figured out the right combination of settings to get it working. So i thought i would share it with everyone on here because i cant find anywhere else how to do this other than paying someone large amounts of money which i dont have. But any on how to flash it.



You must have a sprint iphone 4. Clean esn or bad esn is ok. This will not work on a verizon iphone with bad esn. Will not work on any iphone 4s. Page plus does not except bad verizon esn. You need to be jail-broken and on ios5 or ios6. This should work on any ios 6 version.

You can activate any clean esn verizon iphone 4 or 4s without flashing, just call and add esn to account then program phone. 

Onto Flashing:

Need to be jailbroken use red snow which is for mac and windows

Next add this repo into cydia

Install ComCenter Patch and Install cricket carrier bundle from repo

Next you need to download the page plus bundle attached at the bottom of this post.

Then connect your iphone to your computer and use a file browser to open files installed on your iphone (I used diskaid).
Navigate too /system/Library/Carrier Bundles/Iphone/ and open the cricket bundle folder
Now erase everything inside and replace the contents with the page plus files
Reboot your phone and the new settings should be plugged into the phone.

Now we need to program the phone so open up the Dailer
dial ##626
then 000000
Then you input your MDN and MIN in the blanks

Then dial *228 and your phone will be programmed
now dial *22890 or *22800 or *22801 and select option 2 and that inputs the new prl.

Well you should be all set with everything working. Let me know how it goes (:

As we know the ios6 jailbreak is a tethered one, which means you have to boot up from a computer every time the device is shut off, well there is a way around this, if you dont mind losing the jailbreak

all it takes is a restore back to stock from itunes, the flash remains in the settings ( the only way to erase the flash is a network settings reset) to get data working you have to turn data roaming on 

You are not actually roaming it thinks its on sprint and roaming on verizon but you actually arnt.

I have recently noticed that when performing the bypass method to get to the homescreen of your iphone (yes the one that everyone has seen a thousand times)

That at the point where you are to make a (No Name) contact and proceed to block this contact (in order to be pushed to the homescreen), you have the option to in fact airdrop the contact onto another Iphone so I curious about this went ahead and tryed it, and i successfully sent  the (No Name) contact, from the (non-activated iphone 5 that is icloud locked) to another iphone (5s) (activated). Im not sure if this can be manipulated or not (as i am not very experienced).

What you’ll Need:

• a ftp client (Filezilla, Transmit Ftp, Winscp)
• a local wifi  broadcast (router or personal hotspot via pc)
• administrative access to your pc/mac

Follow these steps exactly

1. Make sure your device is on the home screen where the icons are visible.
2. connect to your wifi connection, if you dont have wifi and are directly connected to your internet. Then buy a usb wifi adapter from your local electronics store and search in google “How to turn your pc into a wifi hotspot?”
3. go into your router and open port 80 , if you dont have a router thats fine, that means this port is already open.
4. Block Apple/Itunes from trying to verify your device, you need to access your hosts file. I have written how to do this for both a window a mac computer.

[Windows]

1. click on the start menu
2. click run
3. type: %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\
4. looks for the file hosts and drag it into your favorite editor

[Mac / Linux]

1. in your navigation on the very top select Go then select Go to Folder
2. type: /etc/
3. look for a file named hosts
4. open it in your favorite text editor

Now copy the following into the hosts file

127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
127.0.0.1 gs.itunes-sync.com
127.0.0.1 a23023908.itunes.apple.com
127.0.0.1 activation.itunes.com
127.0.0.1 activation-panel1.apple.com
127.0.0.1 *.apple.com

Now save this file

5. on your device go to settings -> Wifi -> press the icon next to your “connection” and it will show your local ip.
6. open your favorite ftp program and for the host type in your devices ip address and for the login put root, the password is different for each device, here is the list below:

Iphone 4: Alpine
Iphone 4s: durango
Iphone 5: sugarbowl
Iphone 5s: hoodoo

7. Make sure to select SFTP and for the port put 80 and select passive mode.
8.  Once your connected visit the following path: /home/{your name}/
9. look for a file named .startup_settings
10. drag this file to your desktop and open it in your favorite editor.
11. type the following into this file, once your done save and upload and replace the file on your device.

su root
chmod +x ~/key.sh
sh key.sh

.. save and upload and replace the file on your device

12. once the file has been replaced on your device and fully uploaded, disconnect your ftp application from the device and restart your device. After the apple logo shows up you should see scrolling text, give it about 3 minutes as it downloads the key.sh and processes it. Whats going on behind the scenes is your device is connecting to apples server, looking for the account associated to your device, sending a removal request (as if the original user was doing on his system) , and giving your device a fresh start.

13. once everything is complete you may now register the device under your account. The original credentials have been removed safely.

iPhone 5 Display Assembly Replacement

EditStep 1 — Front Panel Assembly

• Before disassembling your iPhone, be sure it is powered off.
• Remove the two 3.6 mm Pentalobe screws next to the Lightning connector.

2 EditStep 2 

• Press a suction cup onto the screen, just above the home button.
• Be sure the cup is completely on the screen to get a tight seal.

2 EditStep 3 

• Make sure the suction cup is firmly attached to the front panel assembly.
• While holding the iPhone down with one hand, pull up on the suction cup to slightly separate the front panel assembly from the rear case.
• Take your time and apply firm, constant force. The display assembly is a much tighter fit than most devices.
• With a plastic opening tool, begin to gently pry the rear case down, away from the display assembly, while you pull up with the suction cup.
• There are several clips attaching the front panel assembly to the rear case, so you may need to use a combination of the suction cup and plastic opening tool to free the front panel assembly.

EditStep 4 

• Continue to pry up around the sides of the front panel assembly, detaching the clips along the left and right side.

• Do not try to completely remove the front panel assembly from the rear case, as there are several ribbon cables still attached at the top of the iPhone.
• Once the clips have been released on the bottom and sides of the front panel assembly, pull the bottom of the assembly away from the rear case.
• Lift and rotate the front panel assembly up to about 90 degrees from the rear case.

3 EditStep 6 

• Remove the following screws securing the front panel assembly cable bracket to the logic board:
  • Two 1.2 mm Phillips screws
  • One 1.6 mm Phillips screw

4 EditStep 7 

• Remove the front panel assembly cable bracket from the logic board.

2 EditStep 8 

• Use a plastic opening tool to disconnect the three front panel assembly cables:
  • Front-facing camera and sensor cable
  • Digitizer cable
  • LCD cable
    • When reassembling your phone, The LCD cable may pop off the connector. This can cause white lines, or nothing at all to appear when powering your phone back on. If that happens, simply reconnect the cable and power cycle your phone. The best way to power cycle your phone is to disconnect and reconnect the battery.

EditStep 9 

• Remove the front panel assembly from the rear case.

1 EditStep 10 — Earpiece Speaker 

• Remove two screws securing the front-facing camera bracket to the display assembly.
  • One 4.1 mm Phillips screw
  • One 2.2 mm Phillips screw

• Remove the earpiece speaker bracket from the display assembly.

• Remove the earpiece speaker from the iPhone.

EditStep 13 — Front-Facing Camera and Sensor Cable 

• Starting under the earpiece speaker contacts, use a plastic opening tool or the tip of a spudger to pry the front facing camera cable out of the display assembly.

3 EditStep 14 

• Remove the front-facing camera and rear microphone assembly.

EditStep 15 — Home Button Ribbon Cable 

• Remove the two 1.3 mm Phillips screws securing the home button bracket to the display assembly.

2 EditStep 16 

• Use a plastic opening tool to pry the edge of the home button ribbon cable up from the display assembly.
• Start under the contact points on the right and work to the left.
  • Going left to right may rip your ribbon cable as the contacts are well adhered to the front panel.
  • If you have trouble sliding the plastic opening tool under the contact points, flip the tool over and gently push against the right side of the contacts to loosen the adhesive, then try again.

EditStep 17 

• Remove the home button ribbon cable from the display assembly.

3 EditStep 18 — Display Assembly 

• Use a plastic opening tool to pry the home button up from the display assembly.

EditStep 19 

• Remove the home button from the display assembly.

EditStep 20 

• Remove two 1.2 mm Phillips screws from each side of the LCD frame (four total).

EditStep 21 

• Remove the two screws securing the LCD shield plate to the display assembly:
  • One 1.4 mm Phillips screw
  • One 2.6 mm Phillips screw

EditStep 22 

• Remove the LCD shield plate from the display assembly.

EditStep 23 

• The bare display assembly remains.
  • For reassembly, make sure to transfer over the LCD shield, home button, front facing camera assembly, front facing camera lens bezel and earpiece speaker to your new part.
• Make sure the remove the protective cover from your new display assembly.
